JUICE FAST 101

To get your body ready for a juice fast you need to level out your blood sugar in order for you to not feel hungry during the fast. The longer you prep the easier the transition into a liquid diet will be. On day one you begin by eating a vegan, grain and alcohol free diet for 10 - 14 days to nurture your body with plenty of food that's actually fueling you! So basically, lots and lots of salad, tofu, steamed veggies, soups, potato stews etc. And of course, start your day with a yummy green juice with every green vegetable imaginable in it, and add a lemon!

On the evening before the juice fast try to eat a light meal and drink a Smooth Move tea to get your bowels moving in the AM. The first day of the juice fast, you should usually stay at home, take 6-10 Oxy-Mag pills during the day to eliminate all the waste that's still in the colon. This will help your body detox even more, as it won't have to deal with the left over food in your body. Your body should really focus on resting and healing!

So when you start juicing, basically juice everything! Kale, cucumber, celery, chard, spinach, parsley, tomatoes, sometimes add an apple, and - if you like it - add a lemon. Have this juice 3 to 4 times a day. Since some people's blood sugar can drop sometimes have 2-3 tea spoons of honey with tea during the day. Also, drink lots and lots and lots of water (at least 1 gallon)! It will keep you from feeling hungry and your body will be hydrated and nourished.

And then it is really up to you, if you do this for 3 days, for 5 days or go longer - your body will thank you!

Keep in mind that you body is literally cleaning house during the fast. Imagine there be little helpers in your body, trying to sweep out and clean everything you put in it everyday. Imagine everything you put into your mouth every day partially still sitting IN YOU! Now imagine giving all these little helpers a break! They can finally focus on what is really "dirty", what needs to be swept out of you and what can finally heal! So this will also make you understand, that the longer you fast, the more those little helpers can actually take care of your body! That is why sometimes, old scars start to ache again. And it is also the reason why sometimes allergies go away, skin conditions will flare up and then go away for good. Parris got stabbed about 20 years ago and his really big scar ached during the fast. I had psoriasis on my arms and hands and it would come and go. During my second juice fast, it flamed up real bad but then on the last day, after even contemplating of extending the fast, it went away - gone! Completely! Never came back - not even 3 years later!


To break the fast, take it really, really slow on your body! For everyday of your fast, add half a day to build up your stomach and digestion again. Meaning if you fast for 10 days, give yourself 5 days to ease yourself into food again.

The first day of eating again, have a juice in the mooring, then a very light spinach salad with and apple added to it for lunch, no dressing but lemon juice and maybe half an avocado on top of it. Then enjoy juice at night with a steamed apple. Apples have a lot of enzymes which your stomach and colon need to start digesting again. The second day have a juice for breakfast, a salad for lunch and pureed veggie soup without too many spices for dinner. The second day "menu" pretty much continues with the addition of steamed veggies for dinner until you "fulfill" the time you need to ease in to eating everything again. But ideally, you will realize, that there is no going back to your old ways anymore and start really thinking about what you put IN YOUR BODY!!!
